On October 26, the team at Royal Oak Heating, Cooling, Electrical & Plumbing began installing lighting for the new flagpole at Centennial Park in Oxford, Michigan, volunteering their time and expertise as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to giving back.
For owner Scott Ferguson, the project is especially meaningful. A U.S. Navy veteran and Oxford resident for nearly 40 years, Scott raised his family in the community, where his wife has also worked as a preschool teacher for decades.
“My kids were raised, went through the school system here. My one son’s here doing work right here on this very project. My wife’s a preschool teacher here. Has been for almost 40 years.”
Scott’s son, Steven Ferguson, joined the crew alongside master electrician Rob Wadsworth to install three LED lights designed to illuminate the flagpole at night.
The project is another example of Royal Oak’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, from youth sports to helping neighbors in need.
For Scott, seeing his family and team contribute to a place they’ve called home for so many years makes the experience even more rewarding.
“I can’t tell you how good it feels to be able to be part of this, for being here for so long and watching this community develop as it has.”
Royal Oak is proud to play a small part in making Centennial Park shine a little brighter.
